The Stillwater Pioneers capped of another great season in 2015 with a 26-10 record overall and a 10-4 record in conference. The team found success in all aspects of their game.

The Pioneers, historically known as a "small ball" team, batted .351 on the season and knocked in 211 runs. The team was also very efficient defensively as they only had 18 errors with a .967 fielding percentage. This success was in no small part to great play by the outfield unit.

The Pioneers are replacing 13 seniors this year. There is a lot of new young talent joining the varsity squad this season a long with a few returning players. One key returning starter will be Senior center fielder James Avery.

The players are embracing the small ball mentality, as both Avery and Junior left fielder Cole Luckett said they see their role this season being to make sure they can move runners into scoring position, by bunting and getting the ball in play.

Defense will again be a key part in the success of the Pioneers. "We have the ability to be great on defense this year and the outfield is going to play a crucial part of that" said Junior catcher Rece Thompson. "Our outfielders are impressive and they are the most athletic outfield I've ever played behind."

Stillwater's expectations for this season are high and the players are all in. Being two years removed from a state championship, the Pioneers are looking for a third straight successful season under Head Coach Jimmy Harris.

Harris is 57-14 since taking over the Pioneers and the players are 100% sold on his system."Under coach and behind my team, I expect to be dog piling at the end of state." said Thompson.

This team is built for success behind Coach Harris and with the help of their outfield, the team definitely sees themselves raising the trophy down in Norman at the end of the state championship.

"I expect us to win the games we are suppose to win." Avery said when asked about his expectations for the team. "This can be a special year, we can do a lot with it, if we are willing to put forth the effort."
